This is a fabulous ancient Scandinavian Viking silver finger ring, dating to the 10th - 11th century A.D. The ring is formed from rods of silver drawn into beaded wire, the wire braided into a complex bezel, welded together at the terminals and being left open for an adjustable size. It is a very bold piece of jewellery, designed I am sure to get you noticed! It is a complex ring, with an imaginative braiding design to the bezel (a similar example I sold can be sen here). All original and intact condition, with a nice excavated patina. The silver has been tested as good quality, ideal for trading within the bullion economy. The weight of this ring would have been the equivalent to six Viking pennies, when one penny would have bought you 15 chickens! Thus a fabulous ring, of a good weight and in wearable condition.
